How are the wines for the Castor and Pollux memberships selected, and what types of wine will be featured?

Member selections are made with an eye for featuring high quality, classically-styled wines from around the world. Typical months will feature one red and one white wine, with other styles (fortified, sparkling, etc.) making regular feature appearances on the Mercury Shop page of GWC’s website. What makes Gemini Wine Company unique from other wine “clubs” will be the personal nature of the selections and service:  Gemini Wine Company strives to make the wine regions and producers come alive with stories and connections that David has forged throughout his career.  Members will receive an e-newsletter each month detailing the selections and featuring more in-depth looks at the journey each wine made from the vineyard to you!

What is the minimum bottle order for the two memberships?

The Castor membership bottle quantity is six bottles per month (typically 3 white, 3 red).  

The Pollux membership minimum bottle quantity is either four bottles per month (typically 2 white, 2 red), or six bottle per month (3 and 3). 

What is the Mercury Shop?

The Mercury Shop is an online wine store that offers additional a la carte options from an array of regions around the world. Wines of all price points will be on offer and reflect David’s search for finds to enjoy now and in the future.  

GWC Members will receive a 10% discount as well as free delivery for all Mercury Shop purchases; this is from bottle one! Other guests shopping on Mercury receive free delivery with purchases over $100.

What is the general timeline of a GWC membership? 

Gemini Wine Company will operate on a monthly cycle.  Depending on when you sign up during the calendar month, once you’ve joined Gemini Wine Company as either a Castor or Pollux member, David will be in contact with you to coordinate when your subscription will begin (typically the month following your signup, unless stock levels are sufficient to ship that month’s features right away).

The typical monthly timeline of a GWC member is as follows:

1st-3rd of each month:  receive member e-newsletter, along with any additional member offerings.

3rd-10th of new month: all member deliveries are made

1st-3rd of following month: rinse and repeat!

How will my deliveries work?

GWC will make deliveries of each month’s features/any additional wines from the Mercury Shop the 3rd-10th of each calendar month.  You can expect to be contacted directly to confirm your delivery date/time window.  Delivery must be made in-person to an adult at least 21 years of age.  Deliveries in Virginia will be conducted by GWC directly, and in Washington by either GWC or compliant courier.  GWC pledges to work with only the most reliable and courteous couriers in order for you to receive your wines correctly and safely. 

Deliveries in Northern Virginia will be free for members (this includes both your membership deliveries and any special orders).  Gemini Wine Company defines Northern Virginia as:  Arlington, Fairfax, and Loudoun counties and the City of Alexandria.  GWC will happily deliver to other parts of Virginia as well; shipping charges will apply based on the distance and time of travel. Deliveries to Washington, DC members will be conducted for $10 (again, members enjoy the $10 price on both their monthly selections and any special orders) and will include anywhere in DC within 15 miles of the GWC office in Annandale, VA. Non-member deliveries to Washington, DC can be done for $25.00 per delivery.

Do I have to sign for my delivery upon arrival?

Virginia State law does require (as do most states) that deliveries of alcohol be signed for by someone of verified age as wine is a regulated alcoholic beverage.  Gemini Wine Company will be in touch after your order is placed to properly coordinate delivery dates and times, and ensure that deliveries are made in compliance with health and safety measures recommended during this time.

Can Gemini Wine Company ship to states other than Virginia and Washington, DC?

Gemini Wine Company is a licensed Internet retailer in VA and can ship to any states that allow interstate shipping from out-of-state retailers.  Additional shipping charges may apply; if you have any questions about eligibility or would like to arrange a shipment out of state, please contact David directly using the info on the Contact page of GWC’s website. 

I’m unable to purchase a membership at this time.  Can Gemini Wine Company still help me with wines I want?

Of Course!  For special wines that aren’t part of our monthly memberships, gifts, or anything else, I want to be your “wine guy”! Simply click on the Special Order request box on GWC’s home page and email David directly to place an order; you can also place orders via phone by contacting David at 812-325-8765.

What is Gemini Wine Company’s cancellation policy and how do I cancel my membership?

Gemini Wine Company recognizes your right to choose where you go on your wine journey, and you may cancel your membership at any time.  As GWC aims to be a monthly service with a timely ordering and delivery structure, a 30-day notice period is required for cancellation.

What forms of payment does Gemini Wine Company accept?

For Memberships and Gift Cards, GWC accepts all major credit cards via secure payment with Square. 

Special orders and any sales made through the website at events will be invoiced securely through Square and can be paid via all major credit cards or ACH direct debit of your bank account of choice.

When will I be charged for my membership?

Your membership will renew each month for the period of months which you selected at checkout, and on approximately the calendar day that you first joined.

Can I choose only red wine or white wine?

Absolutely!  When you join either the Castor or Pollux membership, after checkout please email me at david@geminiwinecompany.com to indicate your preference.

What is Gemini Wine Company’s policy on returns?

Gemini Wine Company takes great pride in selecting artisan wines that were made with talent and love and showing the same care in delivering them to your home or business.  If any damage to the packaging or bottles themselves occurs during shipment, GWC will replace the damaged items in your order right away at no charge.

Gemini Wine Company cares deeply about the satisfaction of our members and while we cannot accept returns or give refunds on undamaged product due to personal preferences, please feel free to contact us directly if you aren’t satisfied with any part of your order and we will do our best to work out a solution that keeps you in the GWC family. 

All other return requests will be considered on a per order basis. 

Can I reorder wine from a past membership feature?

Yes!  Gemini Wine Company will work hard to benefit from relationships that have been forged over 14 years working in the DC/VA area, and upon request can absolutely re-order wines that have been enjoyed in past membership features, subject to current availability and pricing at the time of the request.

How does Gemini Wine Company’s gift platform work?

Gift cards can be purchased on the GWC website by either members or non-members in increments of $50/$100/$150/$250; these can be used either towards the cost of a membership or towards special orders.  Please contact David directly using the info on the Contact page of GWC’s website with any questions as to Gift Card applications.
